The Mystery of Love

LOVE has lost its power amongst many in this dispensation. Majority of people use the word in a bid to get what they want and they end up destroying precious relationships that have taken years to build.
There are several shades of love but according to ancient Greek, love is categorized under 7;

  • Eros: love of the body. This is usually called lust and that is the kind of love that floods the heart of many.
  • Philia: love of the mind. It is known as brotherly love. It is a platonic and sincere love displayed amongst people who are related.
  • Ludus: playful love. It is the child-like and fun kind of love.
  • Pragma: longstanding love. This love exist among couple, a commitment kind of love.
  • Philautia: love of the self.
  • Storge: love of the child. This is the love parents naturally have for their children.
  • Agape: love of the soul. This is a selfless kind of love. It supersedes all other kinds of love.
All the love displayed by people bears root from either of the above category. The greatest love of all is the Agape love. This kind of love is shed across without seeking anything in return, it has no strings attached. It loves truly and selflessly, and this is the God kind of love. The other categories of love are based on conditions but Agape is unconditional. You can only have this kind of love if you have a transformed heart by God, and this is the love that centers our discussion.
Love is reflected in some act which speaks volume to the receiver and cements solid relationships. These acts include speaking kind words, being concerned about others, showing interest in people’s interest, you might be surprised, knowing people by their names could be the beginning of a fantastic ride with great people, amongst others.

Can you stop talking about you in every conversation you have with people and talk about them? Every individual wants to know that he/she is important and relevant, make them feel same way about themselves, Let down your guard and choose to sincerely seek out the interest of others and you’ll be amazed at the tremendous outcome of that single action.
Oh! You’ve got that person who is like a thorn in your flesh in your school, work, home or beyond, break the person’s backbone with unconditional love. This could have led Stephen Crellet to say “l shall pass this way but once, any good therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not neglect or defer it, for I shall not pass this way again”
You might have to go out of your way and be a little bit sensitive. See the need in others and meet the need, don’t shut up your bowels of compassion.

Now here is it, you cannot give that genuine love if you haven’t learnt to love yourself truly. Make a commitment today to sincerely care for someone with no strings attached because the true cost of real love is NO CHARGE.
If I could give you one thing in life, I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes, only then would you realize how special you are to me.
