Parenting is one task every parent must take seriously. Parents are busy running the rat race that they abandon their parental responsibility to their children, leaving them at the mercy of the church, school and the society which is a costly one. A failed nation bears it root from a failed or faulty family which narrows down to lack of, or poor parenting. Children usually learn best through modelling. Beyond what you as a parent would say to a child, the child looks at what you do. Charles Surgeon puts it this way ‘Train up a child in the way he should go but be sure you go that way yourself’. If you don’t go that way, you ain’t training thechild. Learn to walk your talk as a parent.
Parenting is more than just giving birth to a child. It is the process of promoting and supporting the child’s well-being, from infancy to adulthood. As a parent, you are responsible for your child’s mental development, character building and spiritual growth. To be able to raise godly children in this corrupt and godless world where evil is called good, you will need more than the parent principles and tips obtained from books, you will need help from the greatest parent whooverws about you and the child in your care. He knows just what you need to give your child the best upbringing.
As I read my manual for life (the Bible), I see God’s desire for my children (tho I have non yet) ‘ that my sons may be as plants grown up in their youth: that my daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace’ – Psalms 144:12. It is not in God’s plan that we raise way-word kids, who would pose problem to us and the society at large.
This is a call to every parent and intending parents, partner with the Most high who knows exactly how to make this work out. Pray earnestly for them, their future, their relationship, their everything. Take charge of their lives in prayer and walk them in the way of the Lord, you are sure to have the greatest peace in the business of parenting.
Many parent think that all they need to do is be their child(ren)’s best friend and give them all they want and in that case they’ll win them over. Many have done that and flopped. There’s no way you’ll correctly lead a child to Christ and the life won’t be aligned. Let your child love Christ and he/she will love you and be responsible. As a parent, be that ladder that would lead your child to Christ.
